Spent the greater part of May trying to brand OBC properly and now I think we have our own icon/logo/fruit????
HAHA we have a brand fruit FML.
I like the peach cos it's yellow, looks like a boob when halved, looks like a VJJ when the seed is removed and looks like a butt when whole! π
I love you little peach π And with that, I'm calling it a night. Happy Tuesday everyone! π
Starting your day with yummy goodness…
I'm going to about my tasting at Soi Thai Soi Nice now! So if you haven't had breakfast and are hungry π like me, this might make you even hungrier.
The last time I went for a tasting was quite awhile back! So I was excited to have some yummy Thai food again and also be part of the foodie scene hehe. By that I mean be gluttonous π
Also a good excuse to leave the house on Sunday! Or else we'll be cooped up at home…working our weekend away π
STSN is located in Alexandra Central Mall which is super new (parking on weekends only $1/hour ππ) but if you wanna find it, it's right smack next to IKEA la!
Confirm can find π
We tried their Thai Milk Tea and their Thai Green Milk Tea and I was surprised I actually liked it considering how I'm not a huge fan (Daniel is) of the cloyingly sweet drink.
I think it's probably cos they have a special milk foam (think Gong Cha or is it Li Ho now? ππ) macchiato style. So they don't use the regular coconut milk. It really tastes lighter than your usual!
I preferred the Green to the Red! As I always do laπ
The star of the show was the Royal Thai Hotpot that was super well presented. π― for the careful arrangement and precooking of the ingredients!
The Tom Yam soup was refillable and tbh super similar to the ones I've had in BKK. I hate the clear TYS and love the milky ones with a true passion. So I was definitely happy to see the creamy version served here π
It comes with Crayfish that was fresh enough for the meat to be easily separated from the shell π
Plus! It came with Ramyeon like noodles and sausages and those η³εΏθ which just ππ made me cry in happiness while eating π
This + me = happiness
MmmMMmmmmmMmmm
We were also served a Fried Egg Salad ($6.80 only!) that's kinda like your usual Thai Papaya or Mango salad dressing, but with Cashews, cucumbers, cilantro AND A BEAUTIFULY FRIED EGG.
You know how they usually deep fry omelettes, well my friends, this isn't really an omelette. It was kind of like multiple sunny side up eggs fried together so they resemble an omelette? And then when you eat it….you get bits of half cooked yolk.
HALP ME π I'm making myself hungry π
I would like to take this moment to admire this photo, because I think that the Huawei Leica Cam is awesome π And so is the photography skills of my Husband Ng π
I used to take him to tastings and introduce him as………."my photographer" π
Anyway! This is the Tamarind Prawns that were so crispy, I ate the shell. And so did Husband Ng and my brother HAHA. It was just…so….crispy. And the sauce was tangy and sweet and not too much so you could still taste the sweet prawn taste. π
We were also served a grilled pork neck and fried pork belly dish which were so sinfully good.
I personally preferred the pork neck here than the ones in BKK because it's leaner and super flavourful and warm. Whereby the ones in BKK are always super fatty (80% fat) and served cold. Why ah….
The deep fried pork belly tho……..omg…… devil's midnight snack sia. It was soooOoooOoo crispy and soft until…idk what to say except. Eat it ππ
And then this Curry Seabass Fillet is perfect for the lazy asses who don't eat fish cos it's difficult to eat + bones everywhere.
This one is already prepped into convenient pieces so it's like eating fish nuggets in Curry sauce.
Btw if you've ever eaten Red Pork Curry from INTER in BKK, the curry taste is exactly the same π I miss you so much BKK food. And now you are here. In an obscure mall, right in my face π
I'm sorry if you think this is just a regular omelette. So sorry.
BECAUSE IT ISN'T.
HAHA hands down the most flavourful omelette I've had. It's the Prawn Omelette and omg it's none of those tze char BS that we usually get.
This fella is super thick and dense and not paper thin like the furong dan you eat at the neighbourhood zichar store. But confirm cheaper. This one is 9.80 and feeds 5-6 people. If you are stingy with portions can feed 10. π
And…the piece de resistance. The COCONUT SEAFOOD OTAH.
Mannnnn. This was good. It was so good, I'm coming back to have this to myself. With a bowl of rice.
It's a liquid otah that's set in a coconut husk and I have a suspicion that it's laced with coconut water cos it's so sweet and light. My favourite was getting to bite on the slices of coconut flesh in the otah. Best thing ever.
I thought Qiji had good otah. Man doesn't even come close to this one ππ
Sorry, this deserves another picture cos…..?!?!?!!!?!!!!?!!??!!
The white strips are the coconut flesh and it's so good SO GOOD. It's soft but crunchy and the otah flavours are not overpowering so it's almost like a mild….otah…stew???
Plus check out the prawns man. None of those huhu mushy BS you get at Nakhon. And the price is the same. πππ Makes me wonder what I've been doing the past few years eating at Nakhon and tolerating the heh bi they call prawns π
And….of course desserts. They do a mean mango sticky rice man!
Some prefer harder rice grains (like me) but Husband Ng likes it soft and warm. And this one was SOFT and WARM.
Would have been perfect with fried green bean bits π but ok la don't ask for too much wahahaha. π
And coconut ice cream with gula melaka!! I like how the taste of coconut wasn't crazy overpowering like those artificial kinds.
It was very mild and the gula melaka was solid!! Those legit kind you get in Malacca chendol!
And crispy cornflakes not bad with the dessicated coconut. π My brother loved this. And it's super duper affordable at 3.80!! π
Have all the desserts guys. Have all of them π
Onion eyes, onion eyes.
