I’m back because my stint at microblogging (see post below) has some sort of fizzled out…with a huge dose of disappointment?
I’ve been pouring my life out in this platform called Dayre that has become the centre of my social universe the past year and a half, but now…
Dayre is dead
Or at least that’s what the founders have said…so, as an attempt to get my social media life back together, I’m back to where it feels the safest.
Currently, I’m nestled up in bed, surrounded by my two new blanket buys and my new bedsheets.
In case you’re wondering, which I know some of you will be, I WASHED THEM.
How did they dry so fast?
Cos I used the Air Wash function on my high tech washing machine haha. But the blankets smelt a little stale so I dropped a few drops of ylang-ylang and lavender on a small hankie and threw them in the machine too. 😅
I’m obsessed with essential oils la! And I want to share a post but I’m not an expert yet, so that will have to wait.
I’m going to just put this out there and say that I’m not terribly sad about what happened to Dayre
Yes, I’ll miss the people and the stories, but no, I won’t miss the platform. Why?
Because tbh it has been a shit platform from the very get go. I always thought the limitation on text??? And forcing you to have captions after every picture was retarded.
More or less, I feel like we love Dayre because we got used to Dayre. We could have built the same community on any other platform. We make Dayre special. Dayre doesn’t make us special.
I also didn’t really like the editor’s pick function because it was basically dayre’s plan to “groom” their own influencers so they could add them to their network.
It also promoted this sense of superiority for some, who were picked. And made others who didn’t get picked, wonder if they weren’t interesting enough.
Aiya, I just thought it complicated things.
I know this is an extremely unpopular opinion, but there. I’ve said it.
For now, I’m really looking forward to seeing how we can use wordpress to regroup the community, which is one of the biggest things Dayre has given me.
But tbh, we are a community that Dayre doesn’t deserve.
